Raku Clay is a versatile clay body developed for the demands of raku firing while also performing exceptionally well in hand-building, slab work, tile making and larger sculptural constructions. Its excellent thermal shock resistance helps reduce the risk of cracking during rapid heating and cooling, making it particularly suitable for raku processes and experimental ceramic techniques.
The clay offers good strength and workability, allowing students and ceramicists to create larger forms with confidence. Suitable for both earthenware and stoneware applications, it can be fired across a broad temperature range from 900°C to 1300°C, providing flexibility for a variety of creative approaches.
Supplied in a 12.5kg bag, it is ideal for classroom, studio and workshop environments where durability and versatility are important.
Please note: while this clay can be fired to stoneware temperatures, not all clay bodies are fully impervious to water. For vessels intended to hold liquids or withstand outdoor conditions, a suitable glaze should be applied and fired correctly to help reduce water absorption and improve durability.
