Bernette 48 Combi Overlocker/Coverstitch

The Bernette 48 FUNLOCK Combi Overlocker and Coverstitch Machine combines two specialist sewing functions in one machine, allowing users to construct seams, finish raw fabric edges and create professional-looking hems without needing separate overlocking and coverstitch machines.

With 23 stitch options, including 15 overlock stitches, three coverstitches, four combination stitches and one chain stitch, the Bernette 48 provides flexibility for garment construction and textile projects. Its 2, 3, 4 and 5-thread capability supports a range of seam finishes, from narrow rolled hems to more complex combination stitches.

The machine offers adjustable overlock seam widths of 3–7mm, coverstitch widths of 2.8mm and 5.6mm, combination stitch widths up to 10mm and a rolled hem width of 1.5mm. This allows students to explore different seam constructions and finishes, particularly when working with stretch and knitted fabrics.

A differential feed helps control fabric movement to reduce unwanted stretching or puckering, while sewing speeds of up to 1,300 stitches per minute support efficient garment assembly. The spacious 87mm working area provides room for handling fabric, with an LED light improving visibility around the needle.

Colour-coded threading paths and a manual needle threader assist with setup, while the included cut-offs bin collects trimmed fabric as you sew. Frequently used accessories can be stored inside the looper cover.
